At the Airport

We arrived at JFK airport early so we could watch the planes take off and land. It was cold so I had to wear a hat over my head.

Unfortunately there was a mix-up with the tickets, and we only had three tickets for the way home. So instead of Sarah being our carry on luggage, we had to be the carry on luggage!

Finally we were ready to go and had takeoff, as you can see in this video. Luckily the flight home went well and we are in Sheffield safe and sound.

Hoping to Stay

I really wanted to stay in New York. I came up with the idea of making a nest and hiding in a building like this pigeon was doing. However, Bill pointed out that Mom and Dad wouldn't be there, so I decided not to.

Central Park

We liked our first day out so much we went out the next day too and had a nice walk around Central Park. Dad took a sneaky photo of us when we weren't looking.

You can tell from the look on our faces that we were a bit annoyed with Dad for taking a picture of our bottoms.

Top of the Rock

After all our walking, we decided to take the subway back to the Rockefeller Center and go up to the top of the biggest tower, 30 Rock. Mom was a little scared, so Bill and I had to make sure she felt ok. There were many guard rails so it was not so scary.

Behind us is a great view of Central Park, which is very large. I wish we had a park near our house that big we could run around in during the day.

Taking a Rest

After all our walking, we needed a rest. So we sat down at City Hall Park for a quick break.

Money, money, hot chocolate

After the ferry, we got some hot chocolates and headed down Wall Street. The building with the big flag is the New York Stock Exchange, where lots of important financial stuff happens. However, Bill and I were more concerned with getting our hands on the hot chocolate while Mom and Sarah were posing.

Staten Island Ferry

After breakfast we took the subway to Battery Park, where we had to wait for the Staten Island ferry. As you can tell from our faces, it was very boring.

We rode the ferry because it is free and sails by the Statue of Liberty. When we went past, we got our picture taken with it. Many people think the Statue of Liberty is one of the tallest things in New York, but the truth is it's not that tall, just famous. You can tell from the picture that both Strange Panda and I are taller than it, so that is how small it actually is!

I got my picture taken with the skyline of New York as we sailed away. This shows that many other buildings in New York are also not that tall.

Sarah finally discovered Strange Panda on the trip, so she was happy and presented him as if on a platter. I am not sure why she didn't notice him the first five days though.

Leaving the Hotel

After five days in New York, Dad finally convinced me and SP that there was more to New York than nice hotel rooms. Plus we were getting scared of the maids coming in the room all the time. So we went out for a whole day, starting with a waffle breakfast at a nearby diner.

New York, New York

We took a trip to New York City and stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. We couldn't stand to leave Sarah behind, so we brought her with us as carry on luggage. The beds in the hotel were so comfortable we didn't want to leave.

So we basically just stayed in bed for most of the trip and caught up on our sleep. Flying can make us so tired.
