A Trip to Virginia

Today we went to Virginia to see the other half of the family. Dad says they went there every year when he was a kid. We ate at a Chinese restaurant there. Bill and I got to drive part of the way. Posted by Picasa

Similar Appearance?

I think the plane looks a bit similar to me and other platypuses. I wonder if the design came from looking at platypus models? Posted by Picasa

My Present

I got a nice magazine about airplanes to read as my Christmas present. Posted by Picasa

My Present

I got this cool book about penguins for Christmas. They are black and white like me. Posted by Picasa

Getting a Bite

After Bill ate some candy, I moved closer to get a bite too. Posted by Picasa

Eating the Wheel

Bill snuck up to the train and ate some candy off the wheel. He was a naughty platypus. Posted by Picasa

Gingerbread Train

Mom, Dad, and Natalie made a gingerbread train together. It looked very pretty. Posted by Picasa

A Present for Mom

I put a bow on my head and declared myself the best present Mom got that Christmas. Posted by Picasa

Cuddly

I was a very cuddly and cute present. Posted by Picasa

Thrilling!

You can tell she was thrilled to receive me! Posted by Picasa

A Big Letdown

Unfortunately, when I unwrapped it, it turned out to be Strange Panda! Posted by Picasa

I Found One

I thought I found one that had been discarded... Posted by Picasa

Amongst the Wrapping Paper

Strange Panda and I went searching for leftover presents in the wrapping paper. Posted by Picasa

Upside-down

My bow stays on when I go flying upside-down too. It's like magic! Posted by Picasa

A Present for Mom

I was able to be a present for Mom at Christmas too. Posted by Picasa

Return of the Platypus-Hat Phenomenon

Bill isn't too up on the times. He hasn't heard about the bow-on-your-head trend. He still thinks the platypus-as-a-hat phenomenon is trendy. Posted by Picasa

A Panda Present

Mom made me a present for Dad by putting a bow on my head. I think it looks really cute and will probably be the next big thing this year. Posted by Picasa

Christmas Time

For Christmas Bill and I got to go visit Grandma and Grandpa in North Carolina. It was a lot of fun, and we got to open many presents. Posted by Picasa

Arrctopus with the Family

Arrctopus has had a hard life: he lost one of his tentacles in a swordfight, so he has a hook on that leg instead. He is surprisingly happy despite his hardship though. Oinkchoo and Big Cat are in the picture with us too.

Arrctopus the Pirate Octopus

Dad made us a new friend today. Arrctopus is a pirate octopus made from things in the kitchen. He is really neat, and is always happy. He is friends with Strange Panda and I.

An Early Night... and Day

I was so tired from my presenting that I went to bed early and slept all through the second day of the conference! Oh well, I think after our session, the rest of the conference would've been downhill anyway.

Relaxing at the Hotel

Back at the hotel, I watched TV while dad went off to the conference dinner. I thought the weather was too rainy to leave the hotel and walk to the dinner.

Tea Time

After the presentation, I got to have a nice cup of tea to relax. Since we presented on the first day, it meant that all the pressure was off for the second day.

Presentation Close-up

Here's a close-up from during the presentation. Dads can be so annoying with all the pictures they like to take.

Strange Panda Presents...

This is me doing my part of the session. All the participants loved it.

Durham Blackboard Conference

Dad was presenting a workshop at a conference in Durham on Blackboard. Naturally, he was a little nervous, so he asked me to come with him and help out. I told him that it is important to look nice before a session, so we spent awhile grooming me using this mirror in our hotel.

Other Winter Activities

The other important winter activity that goes with nesting is watching lots of TV. Bill always hogs the remote though.

Nesting Behavior

Winter has come swiftly into Sheffield, so Bill and I have begun to exhibit our instinctive natural behaviors from the wild: we are building a nest to stay warm in.

Close-up

The best picture from Thanksgiving was my close-up!

Claire

Claire is our new best friend. She played with us a lot during Thanksgiving.

Not a Hat to Louisa

At least Louisa was not too impressed by the platypus-hat phenomenon. She didn't want to try it out.

Mom!?!?!

Even Mom started to think of me as a hat. Maybe platypuses are all the rage now?

More Hattage

Mary tried me on as a hat while Claire held SP.
